Newsletter – November 2025, Vol. 1, No. 1

Dear IAQI and ICQI Community,

We know many of you have expressed concern about the uncertainty surrounding the future of ICQI. Please know that we, your co-presidents — Marcelo Diversi and Kathy Roulston — along with the newly formed IAQI Board of Directors, are working weekly to build a renewed and sustainable infrastructure for both the International Association of Qualitative Inquiry (IAQI) and the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (ICQI).

IAQI and ICQI Updates

ICQI 2027 Host Site Proposal

We have developed the ICQI Host Proposal Guidelines for institutions interested in hosting an in-person ICQI in 2027.
A decision will be made by December 2025.

To request a copy of the guidelines, please contact: diversi@wsu.edu or roulston@uga.edu

We will continue to keep the community informed about this process.

New IAQI Website

We are pleased to announce that a new IAQI website is currently under development by a professional design company.

The website will include:

  • Updated information about ICQI and IAQI initiatives
  • Details about the International Review of Qualitative Research (IRQR), our official journal
  • Resources on collaborative events, lectures, and workshops

Launch date: Expected by January 2026.

Quarterly IAQI/ICQI Newsletter

Starting this month, IAQI will publish a quarterly newsletter featuring:

  • Updates on infrastructure development (Board of Directors, Finances, Administrative Support)
  • Announcements of new committees (Treasury, Communications, Advisory, Awards, Conference Organizing, Sponsorship)
  • International Review of Qualitative Research (IRQR) business
  • Upcoming elections for IAQI standing committees

Distribution list

All ICQI attendees from the 2023–2025 conferences.

If you wish to opt out of future newsletters or to be added to the distribution list, please contact Marcelo or Kathy directly.

Note: Some members previously opted out of the ICQI event platform (CVent) without realizing it would prevent them from receiving future updates. Please share this information with colleagues who may have missed communications.

Closing Thoughts

As IAQI and ICQI enter this new phase of renewal and collaboration, we deeply appreciate your continued support and patience. Together, we are reimagining a future that honors Dr. Norman K. In developing a new international professional association, the International Association of Qualitative Inquiry, we look forward to fostering new spaces for global engagement and creative scholarship.

Warm regards,
