2027 Lifetime Achievement Award
Call for Nominations
The International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (ICQI) invites nominations for the 2027 Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes a scholar whose sustained and distinguished body of work has made an exceptional and enduring contribution to the advancement of qualitative inquiry. ICQI welcomes nominations of distinguished scholars from all regions of the world whose work reflects the diversity, innovation, and interdisciplinary spirit of qualitative inquiry.
Eligibility
Nominees should have demonstrated a long-standing record of scholarship, leadership, mentorship, and service that has significantly shaped qualitative inquiry across disciplines, methodologies, or communities of practice.
Current members of the ICQI Lifetime Achievement Award Committee are not eligible for nomination.
Nomination Materials
A complete nomination package should include:
- A letter of nomination (2–5 pages) that describes the nominee’s contributions to qualitative inquiry. The letter should address, as appropriate:
- The significance and originality of the nominee’s scholarly contributions.
- Their influence on the development of qualitative inquiry, including theoretical, methodological, pedagogical, or applied contributions.
- Evidence of leadership, mentorship, and service to the qualitative research community.
- The nominee’s national and/or international impact on qualitative scholarship.
- The nominee’s current curriculum vitae (CV).

Submission Instructions
Please combine the nomination letter and curriculum vitae into a single PDF file and submit it to icqi@qualitativeinquiry.org no later than December 1, 2026.
Late or incomplete nominations cannot be considered.
Review Process
Nominations will be reviewed by the ICQI Lifetime Achievement Award Committee using criteria that include:
- Sustained excellence in qualitative scholarship.
- Significant contributions to the advancement of qualitative inquiry.
- Impact on researchers, students, and the broader scholarly community.
- Leadership and service that have strengthened the field.
- Evidence of a lasting scholarly legacy.
Notification
The recipient of the 2027 ICQI Lifetime Achievement Award will be notified by March 1, 2027.
The recipient will be recognized at the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry, May 2027.
